LISA SVENSON
Lisa Christine Svenson is a non-viewer (of soaps and virtually all television). She is a writer and student who lives with her child, her grandmother (who she cares for), and a variety of pets (who have been known to be somewhat helpful in assisting her with her selections, although her older cat generally refuses to cooperate entirely). As in most years, she has no idea who to vote for, and risks brain damage to find interesting, and ideally (but rarely) accurate, ways of making predictions. These methods are described below, after her prediction in each category.
Based on my previous Emmy prediction experience, I have opted to read the information provided (the briefest summary), and use my own intuition, or gut feelings, or whatever you want to call it (basically, it is what I have that isn't knowledge of the subject), and make my best predictions. My pets, while they have been willing, have yet to predict accurately. While tossing bits of paper down the stairs might be entertaining, and might actually simulate some sort of experiment, in truth (based on previous years' experience), it is a very inaccurate indicator of who the Emmy winners might be. It is noteworthy, however, that the well-informed experts aren't always much better at this predicting than I am!
While I am the "person on the street" opinion for this, I confess to making the predictions from the comfort of my own home (and one of my dogs is here to consult with me, should I reach a rough patch in the decision-making process).

OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES
Guiding Light -
I selected Guiding light because the history of a romance was described as being told in A Christmas Carol-like way, and I confess to loving Dickens (and Dostoevsky, and other writers of the same grim era). Anything that resembles Dickens gets my vote! (Unless there is clearly a better choice. There wasn't)
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR
Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin, The Young and the Restless) - Seriously, being nominated and one of the submissions involving a collision (between persons) AND face cream? Does it get any better than this? And he's sensitive at the memorial service for the (presumed) departed. Gives a warm glow, doesn't it?
OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTRESS
Kim Zimmer (Reva Shayne, GL)
Two reasons: 1. Sensitivity to breast cancer (I would guess it has affected someone each of us knows, including someone the actress knows, and I hope it was sensitively and accurately portrayed), 2. Telling a classic tale by Hans Christian Andersen to a little girl (although I wonder about a small child being in the same cancer ward as an adult, it is important to share that this horrible disease does affect children, and it is heartbreaking).
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTOR
Rick Hearst (Ric Lansing, GH) - This was the toughest one so far. How do you pick between the cold "Goodbye and good riddance" when identifying a body, and explaining why two people have sex? Can you? Rick Hearst? Greg Rikaart?
Ric tries to explain to Alexis why he and Samantha had sex.
When a man and a woman love each other very much....well, sometimes the man and the woman take off all their clothes and, well, one thing leads to another, and, ummm...
Yes, I opted for the warmth. Although, if he's explaining it, my guess is there isn't a lot of warmth between him and the woman he's explaining it to, or him and the woman who was probably a one-night stand. Sounds more like a "Oops! I got caught!" kind of deal (and if so, I'm glad he was caught).
OUTSTANDING SUPPORTING ACTRESS
Heather Tom (Kelly Cramer, OLTL) - Does it get more disturbing than being pregnant with your stepson's child? (Yes, it does. It would involve your birth son.) But, indeed, this is just what happens! And she "commiserates" Hugh. One would hope this commiseration was chaste, but...if she found "comfort" from her stepson and as a result became pregnant with his child, you'd have to think "commiseration" was a bit physical, too.
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTOR
Van Hansis (Luke Snyder, ATWT) - I would hope the scene where someone wanted to deprogram him from being who he was was handled with sensitivity, because a deprogramming camp is a hideous institution.
OUTSTANDING YOUNGER ACTRESS
Stephanie Gatschet (Tammy Winslow, GL) - She was locked in a morgue with a corpse, and survived intact enough to break up with someone she presumably loved so that he could focus on being a good father. The world needs more good fathers! So she gets my vote.
OUTSTANDING WRITING IN A DRAMA SERIES
I saw no information on this category, so I have to make a random guess (as if the others were any different).
My prediction for best writing is: The Bold and the Beautiful
I had to pick it. Because it's so bold. And yet...beautiful.
