All My Children legend Susan Lucci (ex-Erica Kane) reveals "there has been movement" on Pine Valley, the primetime reboot of the soap being produced by Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos).

Soap opera fans are once again salivating over the possibility of an All My Children spinoff series, thanks to some recent comments made by soap icon Susan Lucci, who played the ABC soap opera's leading lady, Erica Kane.

During a conversation with People about her ongoing collaboration with the American Heart Association and its Go Red for Women campaign, the actress revealed a few interesting tidbits about the reboot, which has been rumored to be in the works since 2020, when Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley Santos) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo Santos) announced their involvement in the project.

Noting that word about the forthcoming project comes "sporadically," Lucci enthused, "There has been movement. I wish it was a quicker movement, but yes, everything in terms of being in the right hands, as far as I know, would be in place."

As Soap Central previously reported, the reboot is tentatively titled Pine Valley and will follow the story of a young journalist with a secret agenda who plans to bring the dark history of the town to light, only to become entangled in a feud between the Kane and Santos families. Leo Richardson is writing and executive producing the project with Robert Nixon (the son of AMC creator Agnes Nixon), who is also on board as an executive producer.

"It's really interesting, and the concept is so good," Lucci continued of the AMC reboot. "[It's] in the right hands... [with] Kelly Ripa and her husband, Mark Consuelos, who are both so terrific. They would be executive producers, so I'm really hoping that this is going to actually go forward."

The actress did note, however, "COVID is in play again, and things are slowed down."

In 2020, several stars of All My Children reunited in a week-long special produced by Entertainment Weekly. Many of the actors said they would be open to starring in a potential AMC reboot, but Lucci remained cautious, saying she would only be on board if the reboot was "in the right hands." In the fall of 2021, the actress revealed that she was excited to see the spinoff move forward and would definitely be on board if it comes to fruition. "They tell me yes," she reported, "And I told them, yes, I'm interested."

How do you feel about Lucci's reveal that there has been forward movement on the AMC spinoff, Pine Valley? We want to hear from you -- and there are many ways you can share your thoughts.
