Congratulations are in order for Robert Palmer Watkins (ex-Dillon Quartermaine, General Hospital), who just nabbed a great-sounding gig in the high-profile Netflix film Uglies.
The dystopian fantasy, which stars Joey King (sister of The Young and the Restless' Hunter King [ex-Summer Newman]), is an adaptation film based on Scott Westerfeld's international bestselling book series for young adults. It's about a world in which a compulsory operation wipes out physical differences and makes everyone pretty.
Watkins has signed on to play the role of Sol Youngblood, the father of Tally Youngblood (King). Jillian Murray has also joined the cast as Ellie Youngblood, Tally's mother and Sol's wife.
Watkins posted news of his new gig on Twitter, enthusing, "This is epic!" He also shared the news on Instagram, writing, "Bucket list actor moment! Honored to be working with Joey King, Jillian Murray, Chase Stokes, Laverne Cox, and the entire cast and crew in this epic project. Go read the Uglies book series now!"
Watkins recently starred in the thriller Last Three Days and can also be seen in the role of bachelor Garrett Dalton in the upcoming Tubi film The Final Rose. The horror project follows a young single mother who arrives on a remote island to compete on Love at Last, TV's number one dating show. Her quest for love becomes a fight for survival when she discovers that a mysterious killer is slaying the contestants, one by one. The Final Rose also stars Robert Adamson (ex-Michael Corinthos, GH; ex-Noah Newman, Y&R) and Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson, Y&R; ex-Valerie Spencer, GH), which you can read more about here.
Watkins starred as GH's Dillon from 2015 to 2017. Some of his other credits include The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Frat House Musical, Sketch Juice, Last Life, and Green Valley.
