Netflix has chosen daytime alum Sherri Saum (ex-Keri Reynolds, One Life to Live; ex-Vanessa Hart, Sunset Beach) for a major role in its upcoming series Locke & Key.

Congratulations are in order for soap opera alum Sherri Saum (ex-Keri Reynolds, One Life to Live; ex-Vanessa Hart, Sunset Beach), who has landed a plum role in an upcoming Netflix series called Locke & Hart.

The comic book-based drama tells the story of three siblings who move to Massachusetts after their father's murder. They soon discover that their new home hosts a set of magical keys, each of which give the children a different ability. But there's a problem: a demon wants the keys, too, and it will do anything to obtain them.

According to TV Line, Saum will play the character of Ellie Whedon, a teacher at Matheson Academy who has a mysterious history with the Locke family. She will join previously announced cast members Connor Jessup, Emilia Jones, and Jackson Robert Scott, who will play Locke siblings Tyler, Kinsey, and Bode, respectively.

Netflix has yet to announce a premiere date for the series, but Carlton Cuse (Lost) is set to executive-produce alongside Joe Hill, creator of the original comic book, and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House).

On Twitter, Averill welcomed Saum to the series in a post that reads: "So excited to welcome Sherri Saum to LOCKE & KEY!" Saum's response was that landing the role was "a dream come true."

Saum starred on Sunset Beach from 1997 to 1999 and on OLTL from 2001 to 2003. She went on to nab a starring role on The Fosters and has appeared on series like How to Get Away with Murder, Revenge, Code Black, and Roswell: New Mexico.
