The Young and the Restless viewers will be happy to know that Eileen Davidson is making a return visit as Ashley Abbott. How long can fans expect her to stay in Genoa City?

Fans of The Young and the Restless were devastated when Eileen Davidson decided to hang her hat as Ashley Abbott last year, so there will no doubt be some celebratory "hoorays" that come from her latest news: she'll be returning to the CBS soap opera for a two-day stint.

The actress revealed to Soap Opera Digest that when she departed the series on October 29, she told head writer Josh Griffith that she would be open for return appearances. Luckily, as she shares, he took "me up on my offer! It's always great to see my Y&R family."

At this time, the reasons behind Ashley's return to Genoa City are unclear, but fans can watch for her return appearance on Friday, March 29, and Monday, April 1 -- just a few episodes after Doug Davidson's March 25 return as Paul Williams.

At the time of Eileen Davidson's exit from Y&R, rumors circulated that she left because she was unhappy with former executive producer and head writer Mal Young, but the actress recently set the record straight.

"I decided pretty much a year before I left. It really had nothing to do with Mal. He actually wasn't even technically the head at that point," she shares, adding that her decision to leave was based on wanting to spend more time with her family. "I just found myself exhausted and completely consumed with memorizing lines. I found myself doing a lot of homework on the weekend. I've been doing this for a long time. I was kind of wanting to not have to be somewhere all of the time."

Luckily, a two-day stint doesn't usually require too much homework and memorization!

This article has been updated with a change to Davidson's airdates, which were pushed back by a day due to a preemption.
